about

Stone the Crows (and starve the lizards)
This is a phrase that my grandfather used to utter when he was astounded or exasperated. I grew up hearing this line a lot, and for me, it’s is a real dinky di Aussie thing to say!
I wrote this specifically for James, Bob and Warwick. I thought three trumpets would be great, and I was right. This is the first time that James Morrison, Bob Barnard and Warwick Alder have been recorded together, a fact that gave birth to the remark by James that “this is the most experienced trumpet section in Australia”. So true.
Bob takes first solo, then Wacka, then James, followed by some swapping of fours, in the same order.
