about

Recorded in 1988, features Tony Barnard with pianist and radio presenter Robin Forsaith.
This is the only album she recorded and is a tribute to her memory.

Robin and I did a lot of gigs together in and around Sydney from about 1986 to 1992 including residencies at the 729 club, the City Tattersalls club and many more venues, we had a good following at the time.
Robin was a talented radio presenter and had her own long running show 'Robin's Nest of Jazz' on 2MBSFM as well as being a great pianist.
Sadly Robin Passed away several years ago. She was a vibrant, intelligent and funny lady and could really swing.
Extraordinarily, Robin only played by ear, she had very limited actual academic musical knowledge and didn't know the names of the chords she was playing, but wow, She had big ears when it came to playing and listening and writing (listen to Morning Mist one of her only compositions that I know of). I could play a classical piece by Bach or some other thing I'd just written and she would mimic it straight away note perfect, Brilliant.
I always had an enormous amount of fun with Robby and the gigs were full of laughter. Although there are no vocals on this recording, Robin was especially fond of slipping rude lyrics in where ever she could, leading to shudders of giggles and having to look away from her to stop laughing. She had an lovely infectious personality and is greatly missed by the jazz world.
