about

The bunyip is a mythical beast in Australian folklore. It is said to dwell in swamps, lakes and billabongs, is nocturnal and it’s claimed that the bunyip emerges dripping from his watery home at night to feast on animals of all types, even women and children. It is identified by a loud bellowing cry and when the Aborigines hear this they stay well away from the water. In fact the cry is so terrifying that no one real description of it exists, as no one has stayed around long enough to describe it. The pictures show various incarnations through the years, all equally things to be avoided if you ask me.
I am delighted with the way the guys played this. It's one of my favourite tracks.
Pete Long plays the bunyips on bass clarinet and bass flutes, while Roger, Steve and Fletch provide the spooky and eerie atmosphere brilliantly.
