about

Bilbies, or rabbit-eared bandicoots, are a threatened species now restricted to the arid areas of central Australia. Their range and population continues to decline. Sadly the lesser bilby became extinct in the 1950s. In Australia we now have the Easter bilby, which has raised awareness of the bilby’s plight. They are lovely little animals.
Here’s a joyful little waltz that I think may give voice to how the remaining bilbies must feel – we’re not extinct yet! Listen to Plong’s soaring and sublime clarinet solo, it’s a master class in itself. Roger Beaujolais is equally joyous on the vibes. Fletch, Steve and me on drums, bass and guitar.
